The 2.5 miles or so of hiking up to the entry of the slot canyon makes for beautiful pictures and a great hike then the slot canyon is the cherry on the top. Be aware the slot canyon is VERY narrow.

Zebra Canyon Zebra Canyon is a stunning and unique out-and-back canyon located in Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. Hike through the narrow slot to find the beautiful pink and white striped pattern along the sides of the canyon walls. Just outside of Escalante, only a short 5-mile drive down the Hole-in-the-Rock Road, tucked in the expansive sedimentary rock of the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument is one of the most stunning slot canyons around, Zebra Canyon. Although there is no trailhead marker, the parking lot and trail are fairly easy to find. Distance: 5.2 miles (out and back) Elevation gain: 300 feet (it’s a slightly uphill walk on the return hike) Length of time: 3 to 4 hours. Difficulty: The trail to the slot canyon is easy; the slot canyon is challenging. When to go: Anytime of year, although expect very high temperatures in the summer. Zebra Slot Canyon is one of a handful of canyons in Utah carved out by wind and water over time. As a slot canyon, there are points where it is narrower than your outstretched arms. This makes exploring the canyon quite a fun adventure. The canyon itself is only around 300 feet long and is mostly only wide enough for one or two people at a time. Zebra slot canyon is one of many hikes to be found along southern Utah’s Hole-in-the-Rock Road, where many sandstone canyons feed the west side of the Escalante River.
